Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Critical Facilities Technician to join our Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) team.
In this role you will support the operation, monitoring and maintenance of the electrical and mechanical infrastructure that powers AWS cloud services.
AWS data centers operate 24/7 and rely on highly reliable power and cooling systems.
As a technician in this environment, you will perform hands-on maintenance, equipment inspections, and troubleshooting to ensure infrastructure systems operate safely and reliably.
You will work as part of a team responsible for maintaining mission-critical equipment including power distribution systems, generators, UPS systems and cooling infrastructure.
This role operates on a shift rotation supporting 24/7 data center operations.

The Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) team is responsible for maintaining the critical infrastructure that supports AWS data centers. Our technicians operate and maintain complex mechanical and electrical systems that provide reliable power and cooling for AWS cloud services.
The team works in a highly operational, safety-focused environment, where attention to detail and strong technical skills are essential to maintaining service availability.

Key job responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on electrical and mechanical infrastructure systems
- Conduct routine plant inspections and equipment checks to ensure systems are operating correctly
- Monitor alarms and system performance using Building Management Systems (BMS) and other monitoring tools
- Assist with fault finding and troubleshooting across infrastructure systems including power distribution and cooling equipment
- Support operation and testing of critical systems including diesel generators, UPS systems, switch gear and cooling equipment
- Supervise specialist vendors performing maintenance or repair activities on site
- Follow permit-to-work and safety procedures for all maintenance and operational activities
- Participate in incident response and support troubleshooting during infrastructure events
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and operational logs
- Support testing activities including generator tests and infrastructure fail over exercises
A day in the life
A typical shift may include:
- Performing daily plant inspections across electrical and mechanical infrastructure
- Monitoring alarms and system status through the Building
- Management System (BMS)
- Responding to infrastructure alerts and assisting with initial troubleshooting
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance tasks on site equipment
- Supporting generator tests and infrastructure system checks
- Supervising vendors performing maintenance activities
- Completing shift logs, plant status reports and operational handovers
