Description

The Manager, Infrastructure Energy, EMEA North is responsible for powering AWS's data centres across northern and central Europe through the full lifecycle of power — setting the strategy, originating and securing capacity, delivering grid connections, and managing compliance with national grid codes and regulations. This senior role requires deep commercial and technical energy expertise, strong people management capability, and the ability to influence outcomes across internal teams, utilities, partners, and regulatory authorities in a fast-paced environment. Operating at both strategic and executional levels, the role leads a team of 6–8 professionals who support new site/region selection, manage utility relationships, and drive policy reform advocacy to unlock capacity and remove barriers to power delivery across the region.

there’s nothing we can’t achieve in the cloud.

Key job responsibilities
Programme & Delivery Leadership: Provide executive oversight for power infrastructure planning, design, and delivery across multiple concurrent grid interconnection projects. Collaborate with internal stakeholders — Design Engineering, Construction, Commissioning, Operations, Finance, Legal, and Real Estate — to deliver grid connections on time and to standard. Balance hands-on technical engagement with portfolio-level prioritisation, risk management, and delivery governance.

Utility, Partner & Stakeholder Management: Lead senior-level utility engagement to secure power capacity, manage interconnections, and mitigate delivery risk. Build and maintain relationships with technical consultants to support power origination and delivery. Drive policy reform advocacy to unlock capacity and remove barriers to power delivery across the region.

Financial, Risk & Performance Oversight: Own regional accountability for energy budgets, schedules, and performance KPIs across the project portfolio. Identify and manage technical, commercial, and delivery risks — escalating where required and implementing mitigation strategies proactively. Support capital planning, investment cases, and executive decision-making with data-driven recommendations.

Leadership & Capability Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 6–8 professionals, providing technical direction and fostering a high-performance culture. Build regional energy capability to support rapid scaling and contribute to global infrastructure considerations through matrixed collaboration.
