Amazon is looking for a Meteorologist (London based) in support of our Global Risk and Resilience team.

The Meteorologist, a member of the WWOS Meteorology team, will be an individual contributor (IC) responsible for (1) producing tactical meteorological forecast products in support of logistics operations across the EU and Rest of the World (RoTW) regions; (2) providing weather briefing support to operations stakeholders during large-scale disruptive weather events; and (3) end-to-end management of complex weather-related projects that strategically impact Amazon's Life and Safety, Operations, and Brand.

In this role, you will proactively identify, analyse, and inform relevant weather and climate trends and translate customer requirements into scalable, actionable solutions. You will leverage OSINT, climate radar and satellite imagery, and tradecraft to identify emerging threats, and produce written and oral briefs that help customers anticipate risks and look around the corner.

Key job responsibilities
• Conduct comprehensive meteorological risk analysis using advanced forecasting techniques and meteorological data systems to identify potential impacts to Amazon's operations across EU and RoTW regions
• Collect, analyze, and interpret climate data, radar, and satellite imagery using statistical methods and impact models
• Proactively identify and analyze relevant threats and trends and produce written and oral briefs, in a cohesive and concise format, to serve customers across business lines
• Monitor, forecast, and effectively communicate weather, water, and climate hazards globally, providing real-time analysis and recommendations during dynamic weather-related incidents
• Provide meteorological subject matter expertise to leaders and operations stakeholders at all levels during large-scale weather events, including support to Business Continuity Management (BCM), crisis, and security management teams
• Incorporate government-issued weather and environmental alerts and warnings into tailored weather forecast products
• Analyse weather-related trends and patterns to identify long-term risks and opportunities for improved operations resilience
• Contribute to complex weather, climate, and environmental risk assessments that consider operational vulnerabilities, historical impact data, and seasonal weather patterns across diverse geographic regions
• Engage with internal customers to understand their priorities and requirements, and collaborate with global stakeholders to establish clear operational risk thresholds and escalation paths that protect people, operations, assets, and brand
• Contribute to the development and implementation of crisis management protocols and response procedures across multiple organizational levels
• Design and implement automated solutions to streamline threat monitoring, risk assessment, and notification processes
• Develop and/or maintain advanced weather monitoring systems and information dashboards to track potential threats to Amazon facilities and operations
• Train and advise teams across the organization on weather-related risk identification, preparation, and crisis management


A day in the life
A typical day starts with reviewing overnight Kepler forecasts and any government weather alerts that have come in across EU markets. If Umbrella's automated run has fired overnight, we confirm protections deployed correctly and check for silent failures or coverage gaps. On a quiet day, the focus shifts to protection efficiency analysis, SOP development, or progressing the quarterly rules review cycle. On a live day, it moves fast. WWOS Met delivers an activation recommendation, we stand up the SEM within 60 minutes, populate the tracker, pull lanes via PRECOG, schedule the call, and start coordinating across EUCX, NetOps, and site ops. Throughout the day there are ad-hoc protection requests from stakeholders, weather reporting to distribute, and the constant balancing act of protecting DEA without over-constraining speed. Tuesdays are WBR day, which means the pack needs to land by Monday EOD with the week's protection performance, attribution data, and any callouts. No two days look the same, but the thread that runs through all of it is the same question: are we protecting the right customers, in the right places, at the right time, without slowing down the network more than we need to.

About the team
WWOS Resilience (formerly BCM) is the operational continuity function within Worldwide Operations Security. For weather, the team owns the end-to-end governance of severe weather response across the EU network, from meteorological intelligence through to customer-facing delivery protection. This includes the Severe Event Management (SEM) lifecycle for weather-driven disruptions, automated and manual protection deployment through the Umbrella platform (UDD/promise pads, transit time pads, and capacity constraints), quarterly protection rules governance, proactive weather communications to CX and operational stakeholders, and site closure processes for life-threatening weather events. The team works in partnership with WWOS Met (who provide meteorological expertise and forecasting) and coordinates directly with EUCX, ATS CX, 3PCC Quality, AMZL, NetOps Control Tower, and ECFT/NFM to ensure weather-related delivery risk is identified early, protections are deployed proportionately, and customer delivery promises are maintained. The operating principle is simple: protect the customer without over-constraining the network.
