Joining Arup
Arup's purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for 80 years, guiding how we shape a better world.
You will join a multidisciplinary Energy, Water and Resources team delivering BIM and CAD services across major UK infrastructure programmes, including EA and NRW frameworks and the AMP8 wastewater investment programme. Working closely with industry partners and clients such as Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water and Morgan Sindall, the role is based in Cardiff with collaboration across co-located project offices in Newport.
The work supports the delivery of essential water infrastructure projects that help shape resilient, sustainable communities, combining technical design expertise with integrated digital delivery across complex, regulated environments.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior BIM Technician to support the delivery of complex water infrastructure and structural engineering projects within a multidisciplinary design environment, covering areas such as wastewater treatment works, sewer networks, CSOs, pumping stations, rising mains, and flood risk and river engineering schemes.
In this role, you will produce and coordinate high-quality BIM and CAD outputs using Civil 3D and Revit, developing 3D models, surfaces, alignments, profiles, and detailed infrastructure components including pumps, pipework, valves, and penstocks. You will ensure all digital outputs are accurate, coordinated, and compliant with client, project, and industry standards.
You will be responsible for reviewing survey data for design suitability and carrying out quality checks on models and drawings to maintain high technical standards across project deliverables.
Alongside technical delivery, you will support and mentor junior team members and apprentices, helping develop their BIM and CAD skills, while contributing to best practice sharing and continuous improvement within the team’s digital delivery processes.
Is this role right for you?
We are seeking the below skills and knowledge:
• Strong experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Revit for infrastructure design delivery
• Experience using ACC and ProjectWise for collaborative design and document control
• Background in water or infrastructure projects with understanding of relevant UK standards preferred
• Experience in reinforcement detailing and/or steel fabrication drawings
• Good understanding of BIM workflows and QA procedures, including client drawing standards and deliverables
• Strong collaboration skills with experience working in multidisciplinary teams
