Our Energy Geotechnics team plays a key role in supporting the global energy transition, delivering innovative ground engineering solutions for offshore wind, transmission infrastructure, carbon capture and storage (CCS), hydrogen storage, and other major energy developments. Bringing together engineering geologists, geophysicists, geotechnical engineers and digital specialists, we help clients understand complex ground conditions and reduce project risk from concept through to construction.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Principal Energy Geotechnics Engineer to join our established Ground Engineering team in London. The role will strengthen our energy and infrastructure capability, combining technical delivery with project leadership, client engagement and the development of others.

You will work primarily on energy projects spanning offshore wind and site characterisation, cables and interconnectors, pipelines, landfalls and crossings, nuclear, carbon capture utilisation and storage, hydrogen, geological disposal facilities, geothermal energy and underground energy storage. You will also support wider ground engineering and multidisciplinary infrastructure projects where your expertise adds value.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a leading role in the delivery of complex ground engineering projects across both established and emerging energy sectors. The role involves overseeing offshore and onshore ground investigations, developing ground models, assessing geotechnical risks and providing high-quality technical advice to clients. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams across the UK and internationally, you will contribute to innovative engineering solutions, support business development activities and help secure future work through strong project delivery.

The position also includes responsibility for project performance, commercial management and team leadership, while fostering technical excellence, innovation, digital delivery and the development of less experienced colleagues.

Is this role right for you?

You should be able to demonstrate most of the following:

• Degree (preferably Master's) in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, Geology, or related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer/Geologist (or equivalent professional accreditation).
• Strong geotechnical engineering or engineering geology experience, with expertise in ground investigation, interpretation, and risk management.
• Experience delivering energy or major infrastructure projects (e.g. offshore wind, cables, pipelines, nuclear, or multidisciplinary infrastructure).
• Proven project management and commercial awareness, including programme, resource, and client management.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience reviewing and assuring technical quality.

• Collaborative and proactive approach, able to work independently and contribute to emerging sectors such as CCUS, hydrogen, geothermal energy, and underground energy storage.
