Summer Internship - Sustainability Consultant - London
See it differently
You see the world through a unique lens and that’s exactly what we need. We embrace how you see things differently – it’s essential for creating a sustainable future.
Arup is a global consultancy with advisory and technical expertise across more than 150 disciplines. We guide, plan and design the future of the built environment. Globally, each year we recruit hundreds of graduates and students who help us see things differently and solve the most complex challenges facing our clients, climate and communities.
The Opportunity
At Arup, we regard sustainable development as a core priority. We assist clients of all scales in delivering high-quality sustainable buildings by establishing decarbonisation pathways for both existing and new projects. Our approach integrates recognised environmental assessment methodologies, such as BREEAM, LEED, WELL, and NABERS, alongside comprehensive whole lifecycle carbon analysis and the application of circular economy principles as just some examples.
We're looking for a summer intern in Sustainability Consultant to join our team of bright professionals. From your first day, you'll join an unrivalled community of experts within the built environment, where everyone is supported in their career path and encouraged to work towards a professional qualification.
During this 6–8-week Summer Internship:
You'll help us to deliver effective and professional services for a range of varied and high-profile clients. This will include but not be limited to environmental assessments methods such as BREEAM or WELL; whole life cycle carbon assessments, circular economy strategies and sustainability strategies for the buildings and masterplans. While you'll have a great deal of responsibility from day one, we'll give you the chance to take on more as you progress and broaden your skills
Is this role right for you?
For this opportunity, we are seeking the following qualifications, skills and attributes:
Studying towards a degree in Environmental, Architectural, Structural Engineering or Building Services Engineering or a degree relating to Sustainability, Environment, Energy or the Built Environment with keen interest in carbon.
Alongside your degree, we look for the following core attributes;
- Changemakers: A passion for sustainable development and creating a better world is key.
- Innovative minds: We’re looking for critical thinkers who embrace new ideas and challenge the status quo.
- Growth seekers: You have a growth mindset, always eager to learn and explore new ways of working.
- Adaptable adventurers: You’re ready to take on any challenge that comes your way.
Advert Closing Date: 6th November 2026
Please note, in the event of high applicant volume, this role may be closed ahead of the advertised closing date. Early application is recommended.
