LOCATION: London - Hybrid
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £32,000-34,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Join the dynamic and innovative team behind the BBC’s Media Centre and About The BBC websites and our rapidly growing Corporate social media accounts. As a Digital Communications Specialist you’ll work at the heart of the BBC’s Corporate Affairs division and alongside our Corporate, TV and Radio publicity teams, to maximise digital reach and engagement across both reactive and proactive campaigns.

WHY JOIN THE TEAM
The Websites and Social Media team sits at the heart of BBC Corporate Affairs and works with teams across the whole organisation to tell the BBC’s story in new and innovative ways. It’s fast paced, often unpredictable but hugely rewarding work, ensuring both journalists and audiences can find out everything they want to know about the BBC’s output across multiple digital platforms.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

  • Maintain the BBC’s Corporate websites, BBC Media Centre and About the BBC
  • Schedule and publish announcements about BBC programming and the organisation itself.
  • Assist in the running and expansion of BBC Press Office social media accounts and digital platforms
  • Craft bespoke proactive digital assets for web and social


YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Experience publishing directly to websites and/or social media accounts and a passion for digital storytelling
  • A basic working knowledge of image and video editing tools
  • An understanding of Search Engine Optimisation
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

    DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
  • Familiar with web and social media analytics tools
  • Working knowledge of the Adobe Suite.
  • A background in online journalism or digital production
  • Understanding of the newsgathering process online
  • Familiarity with Media Law and the Ofcom Code
