PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £47,000 - £53,000 per annum, depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
We are looking to recruit a high calibre Accountant to join our Finance Operations team based in Cardiff with some flexibility i.e. hybrid working. The role will sit in the Capital and Leasing team with a focus on Capital accounting.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
As an Accountant your key duties will involve some or all of the following:
- Maintenance of the Fixed asset register - including changes to locations, asset owners, disposals and write offs, impairments
- Aged AUC reviews and depreciation reviews - confirming the charges have been allocated correctly and value is correct
- Performing asset verification, either via physical site visits or via Teams meetings, to confirm the assets are still in use
- Undertake impairment reviews of assets
- Attend Project Review Meetings, provide SME advice on accounting treatment
- Contribute to reporting processes to ensure the financial position and performance of different sections of the BBC Group is understood and key issues are rectified, ensuring appropriate process is observed with control over sub ledgers and integration with the general ledger
- Manage the accurate recording of transactions in the ERP general ledger, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and internal controls and improving efficiency and controls of financial processes, methodologies and environments where possible
- Support the efficient delivery of internal and external audits (including preparation of annual reports and other external reporting requirements)
- Collaborate with key partners and stakeholders including our outsourced partner, other finance teams, divisional and group stakeholders where appropriate
- Document and implement accounting judgements in accordance with BBC policy and accounting standards
- Compile and review balance sheet reconciliations supported by appropriate testing, ensuring full compliance with internal controls and our minimum expected requirements, with fully evidenced and substantiated balances.’
- Provide professional financial support to a range of stakeholders, effective control of financial processes and delivering operational excellence.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
To be successful in this role you will need to:
- Hold a professional accounting qualification e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent
- Have significant experience of delivering a high-quality accounting service.
- Experience of accounting for capital projects / working within in a capital accounting team would be highly beneficial
- Possess highly developed communication skills with the ability to influence.
- Be able to take complex data/principles and to communicate these in an understandable way to wider BBC team, both finance and non-finance
- Have knowledge of the theory and practical application of accounting principles and controls.
- Possess advanced excel and modelling skills, in relation to key finance information
- Be able to demonstrate strong planning and organisation skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
