PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

BBC News NI and TV Current Affairs Northern Ireland produces a number of television current affairs strands, for local audiences and across the UK. Production Coordinators work closely with the editorial team and are responsible for providing day-to-day support, booking and coordinating logistics for local and international filming, preparing call sheets, monitoring production spend and being a point of contact for freelancers, crew, contributors and BBC staff.

WHY JOIN THE TEAM

If you have a passion for being part of a team and want to work in a dynamic and fast paced production office, then this is an incredible opportunity for candidates with an interest in news and current affairs.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT

  • Raise payments for freelancers, locations, suppliers and copyright via BBC Financial Systems as well as monitoring programme budgets and spend and keeping detailed cost logs.
  • Pre and post production requirements including clearing music and stills for all content and completing all production paperwork.
  • Support production teams with travel, accommodation, visas, crew hire, locations, extras, props, payments and all other requirements for a successful shoot.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Strong organisation, project management and coordination skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to build trust and collaborate effectively.
  • Experience of problem solving and able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team whilst staying calm under pressure.
  • Proven ability to manage projects within a set budget.
  • Highly organised with strong planning, time‑management and administrative skills, demonstrating excellent attention to detail, the ability to prioritise effectively, maintain productivity under pressure, and support production teams as required.
  • Collaborative team player with proven coordination experience, able to build effective working relationships with a diverse range of colleagues, carry out logistical coordination duties, and contribute to practical actions that reduce environmental impact across production.
  • Proactive and improvement‑focused, with the ability to propose new ways of working, alongside solid business and financial skills to prepare, manage and monitor production resource plans, budgets, and procurement/booking activities.

DESIRABLE:

  • Experience of using BBC internal systems.

If you can bring some of these skills and experiences, along with transferable strengths, we’d love to hear from you and encourage you to apply.
