PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £33,000 - £44,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

BBC Radio 3 offers its audience a unique blend of classical music and culture. It does this through a schedule of live and recorded programmes and public concerts, insightful documentaries, crafted features and ambitious podcasts. It is the main broadcast partner of the BBC Proms and of the BBC Orchestras and Choirs.

As part of BBC Audio, Radio 3 Production is the largest supplier of content to Radio 3. We are team of people who are passionate about classical music in the broadest sense, alongside new music, jazz, world, folk and film music.

Within the London team we make a portfolio of programmes including daytime live strands Essential Classics, In Tune, Saturday Morning and Record Review, a whole range of broadcast concerts including Wigmore lunchtimes and BBC Proms, innovative award-winning programmes such as Night Tracks and This Classical Life, podcasts for BBC Sounds including the Music and Meditation Podcast, and programmes for Radio 3 Unwind.

YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT

  • We are offering seasonal role as Content Producer over a busy summer period during the BBC Proms. Based in Broadcasting House, London, you will work across the full range of Radio 3 Production London output, including live and pre-recorded studio and location-based programmes, but with a particular focus on Proms related programming including intervals, pre-recorded packages, concerts and digital.
  • Deliver content to the highest editorial and technical standards, in line with BBC Editorial Guidelines, compliance, and risk policies.
  • Manage productions across weekdays and weekends, ensuring smooth delivery within budget.
  • Contribute to the creative development of new programme ideas and formats.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • A thorough and broad knowledge of classical music and experience in live audio production.
  • Strong understanding of BBC’s Values and editorial policy.
  • Proven ability to create compelling, audience-first classical music running orders and respond to evolving network music policy.
  • Excellent audio recording and editing skills.
  • A collaborative team player, confident in managing complex productions and adapting to last-minute changes.
