We design the formats and components that shape how audiences experience our stories across digital and social platforms. Our work spans immersive article experiences to social storytelling, and supports the cross-platform design system used across the newsroom.

As a Designer, you will work closely with journalists and engineers to develop new storytelling approaches. From early wireframes to narrative structures that bring complex stories to life, you will explore new formats, contribute to the evolution of the BBC News design system, and help define how stories live across our digitals platforms, from web to social.

  • Design and deliver accessible components for web and social platforms.
  • Prototype narrative and interaction ideas that bring editorial concepts to life.

  • Share design best practice, fostering collaboration and consistency across the team.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE – KEY CRITERIA

Essential

  • Proven experience with Figma and Adobe CC.
  • Solid understanding of accessibility, responsive design, and cross-platform delivery.

  • Clear communication skills with strong attention to detail and craft.

Desirable

  • Experience in media or publishing.
  • Familiarity with video editing tools.
  • Familiarity with illustration or other visual storytelling techniques.
  • Awareness of current design trends and emerging digital storytelling practices.
  • Understanding of prototyping and testing methods to validate design decisions
