PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

We’re looking for a creative and passionate Social Media Executive to join the BBC Radio central social media team, with a focus on publishing and community management. You will help optimise and maximise impact for our Radio 2 social channels and social video. You’ll help bring our live radio, music, and podcast content to life through sharing short-form clips and social storytelling. Your work will help UK audiences discover and connect with the BBC’s audio on demand content and live radio in fresh and exciting ways.

WHY JOIN THE TEAM

  • Be part of one of the biggest social publishing teams in the UK, and support the most listened to radio station in Europe.
  • Work in a collaborative, creative environment that values innovation and authenticity.
  • Help shape how millions of listeners engage with BBC Radio 2 across TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts.
  • Gain hands-on experience at major music events like Radio 2 in the Park, or Eurovision.
  • Collaborate with artists, creators, presenters and other social and YouTube teams across the BBC.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

  • Schedule, optimise, and publish content across Radio 2’s social media platforms.
  • Devise and develop community management tactics to help grow our channels.
  • Collaborate with artists, creators, and non-BBC channels to amplify reach.
  • Work closely with other execs and production teams to ensure cohesive and impactful promotion for live radio moments.
  • Ensure our channels are compliant with the BBC’s editorial guidelines.
  • Support wider BBC radio network priorities and podcast campaigns as needed.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Strong knowledge of BBC Radio 2, its audience, and its presenter line up.
  • Familiarity with publishing and analytics tools such as Emplifi, Social Flow or equivalent.
  • Significant experience working with a publisher or broadcaster publishing and managing content with proven experience running TikTok, Instagram and FB Reels, and YouTube Shorts channels.
  • Skilled in video and image editing, including Adobe Creative Suite and mobile editing apps and experience creating thumbnails, straps and SEO friendly copy for social posts.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to share ideas and collaborate across teams, leaders and presenters.

DESIRABLE

  • Experience working on social campaigns for live events or festivals.
  • Familiarity with BBC editorial standards and compliance.
  • Understanding of radio and podcast promotion and audio storytelling.
  • Experience using social media analytics to inform strategy.
  • A personal or professional portfolio showcasing relevant content.

If you can bring some of these skills and experience, along with transferable strengths, we’d love to hear from you and encourage you to apply.
