PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

We are seeking an outstanding Executive Personal Assistant to support the Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Bérangère Michel, a member of the BBC Executive Committee and BBC Board. This is a high profile, trusted role at the heart of the organisation, providing proactive, judgement-led support to one of the BBC’s most senior leaders.

As Executive Personal Assistant to the Group CFO, you will act as a trusted partner and first point of contact, ensuring the smooth and effective running of a demanding, fast paced and highly visible office. You will play a pivotal role in enabling the Group CFO to operate effectively across a broad portfolio, exercising sound judgement in a complex stakeholder environment.

This is a full time role based at London Broadcasting House, with an expectation of working on site approximately three to four days per week. The postholder will regularly travel with the Group CFO to the BBC’s White City offices and may occasionally be required to travel to other UK locations in line with business needs.

WHY JOIN THE TEAM

The Group CFO leads BBC Group Finance and Operations and has a broad and complex remit, including responsibility for Group and Commercial Finance, Procurement, Workplace and Sustainability. The role offers significant exposure to senior stakeholders across the BBC, as well as engagement with external partners and advisers, and requires exceptional professionalism, discretion and sound judgement.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

As Executive Personal Assistant your key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as a strategic gatekeeper for the Group CFO’s time and attention, managing a highly fluid diary and inbox, prioritising competing demands and anticipating issues before they arise.
  • Handling all enquiries with professionalism and discretion, engaging confidently with senior leaders, Board members, external stakeholders and partners on behalf of the Group CFO.
  • Managing complex meeting schedules, briefings and logistics, including extensive travel arrangements, ensuring the Group CFO is fully prepared and supported at all times. You will contribute to the overall effectiveness of the senior leadership team by supporting team activity, planning and engagement as required.
  • Exercising initiative and judgement to identify matters requiring immediate attention, escalating issues appropriately and resolving challenges autonomously where possible.
  • Supporting the rhythm of Executive and Board level activity, demonstrating a clear understanding of confidentiality, sensitivity and governance requirements.
  • Producing and coordinating high quality documents, presentations and correspondence to exacting standards.
  • Acting as a key point of coordination across Group Finance and Operations, working closely with senior leaders, their assistants and teams to ensure effective communication and alignment.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • You will be a highly capable and confident Executive PA with proven experience operating at the most senior levels within a large, complex and high profile organisation. This will be supported by demonstrable experience providing trusted Executive level support to a senior leader, such as an Executive Committee or Board member.
  • A proven ability to manage constantly shifting priorities with composure, resilience and excellent organisational skills, even under sustained pressure. Possessing strong judgement and influence, with the confidence to act autonomously while knowing when to escalate.
  • Exceptional discretion and professionalism, with a clear track record of handling highly sensitive and confidential information. You will bring a collaborative, solution focused mindset with the flexibility to adapt to ambiguity and change.
  • Experience producing high quality presentations, briefings and documents efficiently and accurately, with close attention to detail. This will be supported by your strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Confidence using a range of digital and communication tools, including MS Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel, as well as WhatsApp and MS Teams.

If you can bring some of these skills and experiences, along with transferable strengths, we’d love to hear from you and encourage you to apply.
