CONTRACT TYPE: Full-time / Fixed-term Contract (22 Months)
DEPARTMENT: BBC Media Tech, Corporate Systems
LOCATION: Hybrid (up to 1-2 days per week in the office)
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £90,000 - £100,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Corporate Systems department delivers business critical applications across BBC Public Service and BBC Studios, spanning Finance, Procurement, Treasury, HR, Learning & Resource Scheduling.
As Principal Product Manager, you shape and govern the SAP focused technology platform, driving a clear architectural vision. You ensure standards based, reusable, and innovative solutions that align with BBC technology strategy and choices, guide investment, and deliver measurable value across BBC divisions and partner ecosystems.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
• Own the end-to-end product strategy and roadmap for the Corporate Systems technology platform, aligned to BBC business priorities.
• Define platform value propositions, outcomes, and measures of success for internal services and products.
• Lead architectural direction and governance for SAP BTP and SAP RISE PCE along with associated hybrid platforms.
• Partner with senior stakeholders, delivery teams, service management and suppliers to balance demand, risk, and investment.
• Ensure platform reliability, security, scalability, and cost-effectiveness across its lifecycle.
• Identify technology risks and opportunities, driving continuous improvement and innovation.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
• Proven experience leading a large-scale enterprise technology platform or product.
• Strong architectural background in complex, hybrid technology environments.
• Experience working with SAP ecosystems, cloud platforms, or enterprise SaaS.
• Proficient in all aspects of Security, Identity, Hosting and Networks.
• Strong understanding of service reliability, security, and operational excellence.
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
• Familiarity with product management, ITIL, or TOGAF practices.
• Experience working in large, regulated, or public-sector organisations.
• Relevant professional certifications or advanced qualifications.
• Experience influencing senior stakeholders and leading cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated ability to shape strategy and translate it into deliverable roadmaps.
