As a Journalist on the team, you’ll typically own the production of one or more live streams in our Streaming Control Centre. You’ll be a natural collaborator who thrives in a fast-paced daily news environment where taking ownership for your decisions and development is the norm. You will be as comfortable covering breaking news as you are planned live events and identifying off-diary stories that will engage audiences we need to reach. If you are agile, creative and are passionate about redefining live video news, this is the role for you.

- You’ll assist in the production of a wide variety of live news coverage. The successful candidates will be at home with breaking news, or pre-planned major events. With a keen eye for moments, you’ll help spot and amplify the best of the BBC to audiences wherever they are with us, digitally.
- Streaming is a major priority for BBC News across our platforms. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of the industry; you’ll be motivated to embrace the challenge and work with others to seize the opportunity.
- Journalists in the team will be expected to work across a variety of daytime, evening and weekend shifts to deliver always on News coverage across BBC platforms.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Good news judgement and knowledge of Editorial Policy and media law considerations for journalistic content across BBC platforms.

- An appreciation of analytics around digital publication; how audiences consume video and audio on streaming platforms and the target audiences for News content across BBC platforms.
- Willingness to work inside a data-led, multi-disciplinary team, in an agile, constantly developing and adapting environment; demonstrable experience of being a team player.
This role may include opportunities to work with the News on iPlayer VOD team on stranded or fast turnaround programmes. Therefore, the following skills are also desirable.
- Experience as a producer making long form programmes and developing new on-demand formats
