PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £43,700 - £65,700 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PUPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Operations Team Leader will divide time between being operational as a Production Specialist (PS) and Line Management in the department for Media Operations London. They will work a pattern fitting in with the PS team to cover day to day demands, forward planning known events, as well as line managing other members of the team.

The role involves maintaining and developing relationships with many stakeholders in the BBC. They will be the main point of contact for the PSs and work with other areas in Media Operations to prioritise effective and efficient content delivery.

The position will enable personal development as well as being able to enhance the capability of the team.

ABOUT THE TEAM

BBC Media Operations is at the heart of delivering incredible content across all our platforms for all audiences. Comprising around nine hundred people, it manages the craft and production operations for the BBC’s news, radio, and some sport services across London, Salford, Birmingham with teams across the main UK sites. Our team captures, edits, and produces output 24/7 for TV, radio, and digital platforms. We are experts in our field, with exceptional technical, operational, and production creativity at our core. Working closely with our editorial colleagues, we co-create content that reaches millions of people across the UK and the world daily. The team also manages production services, editing and post-production, stores, some OB bases in England, and the BBC’s fleet of pool and broadcast vehicles.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

  • Operating as a Production Specialist
  • Lead and manage a team of Production Specialists
  • Work closely with Media Operations teams to ensure efficient and effective delivery across all platforms
  • Key point of contact in the team
  • Reporting to an Operations Executive

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience of multi-skilled content production
  • A good technical understanding of streaming and digital production
  • Team management experience
  • Familiarity with dealing with high level stakeholders
  • Ability to build positive relationships and achieve the best outcomes through collaboration
  • Demonstrable commitment to individual staff development and the wider change agenda
