The successful candidate will have strong technical accounting skills and expertise, experienced with ensuring compliance with financial reporting standards (IFRS). Working within our internal controls framework, you will oversee the divisions day-to-day financial operations, and ensure the integrity of accounting data, making sure ledgers are accurate, and monthly management information and financial statements are prepared on time.

You will work with a wide range of stakeholders and will be able to quickly establish yourself as a trusted and credible finance professional.

The successful candidate will have:-

  • Excellent accounting knowledge across both UK & International financial reporting standards
  • Experience of working with formal financial controls
  • A keen eye for detail, with the ability to be proactive in taking the initiative to problem solve
  • Good collaboration and communication capabilities – able to influence and communicate with Finance and non-Finance staff at all levels of the organisation including our outsource provider
  • Ability to embrace and adopt new technologies and evolve current working practices, using lean methodologies.

Your Key Responsibilities and Impact

  • Ensuring a robust accounting close process across both month and year-end.
  • Line management of the divisional accounting team.
  • Oversight of monthly actuals, validating and ensuring the integrity of the numbers
  • Managing the liaison with external stakeholders where required including our outsource provider and appointed external auditors.
  • Providing sound technical and expert financial/accounting advice to support insightful and informed business decision making, including impact assessment.
  • Working closely with wider finance and business colleagues to deliver and report accurate numbers to stakeholders whilst ensuring that internal Finance controls, including accounting principles and standards, are adhered to and applied on a consistent basis.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial matters clearly and concisely to non-finance stakeholders.

Your Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • A fully qualified CCAB accountant with a sound understanding of financial controls.
  • Substantial experience of managing a team, and coaching and mentoring others in a finance function, planning activity to meet tight deadlines.
  • Accustomed to, and confident in, liaising with senior finance and non-finance stakeholders with a service delivery focus.
  • A strong technical knowledge, ideally with experience of IFRS and a good understanding of financial reporting.
  • Able to evidence a continuous improvement mindset, with clear successes in implementing new processes.
  • A team player, able to build solid working relationships across own team and beyond.
  • Inquisitive mindset coupled with the ability to investigate and resolve challenging/complex problems.
