What is Aladdin and Aladdin Engineering (AE)?
Aladdin platform: You will be working on BlackRock’s investment operating system, Aladdin—used both internally and by financial institutions worldwide. It brings together sophisticated risk analytics, portfolio management, trading, and operations in a single, unified platform. Aladdin enables informed decision-making and connects thousands of users across the global investment ecosystem.
Aladdin Engineering: Our team sits within Aladdin Engineering, where we build the next generation of technology that redefines how people, data, and systems interact across global investment firms. We develop and scale platforms that manage trillions of dollars in assets, process millions of transactions daily, and support a vast universe of financial instruments.
Portfolio Management Engineering: Within AE, Portfolio Management Engineering empowers investors with clarity, precision, and confidence. We design resilient, scalable systems that transform complex data into actionable insights—enabling faster, better investment decisions. By connecting strategy, analytics, and execution into seamless workflows, we simplify complexity, automate routine processes, and surface risk and opportunity. Through innovation and engineering excellence, we build platforms that evolve with the markets.

Responsibilities
Own project priorities, timelines, and deliverables, leveraging Agile methodologies
Design and deliver highly efficient, scalable, and resilient systems with strong availability and fault tolerance. Hands-on coding
Contribute to the development of Aladdin’s global, multi-asset trading platform
Act as a senior individual contributor, delivering key capabilities within portfolio management systems, including next-generation portfolio construction and monitoring
Partner with product management and business stakeholders to define and evolve the product roadmap
Design innovative solutions to complex problems, proactively identifying risks and removing roadblocks
Provide technical leadership—driving team productivity, mentoring developers, and fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence
Qualifications & Competencies
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent.
Over 7 years of hands-on experience in Core Java, C++ and enterprise-grade software engineering.
Experience leading engineering teams, projects, or being fully responsible for the design and technical quality of a significant application, system, or key component.
Ability to form positive relationships with partnering teams, sponsors, and user groups
Strong interest in current and emerging trends of platforms and technologies
In-depth understanding of concurrent programming and designing high throughput, high availability, fault-tolerant distributed applications.
Expertise in building ad optimizing distributed applications using SQL and/or NoSQL technologies such as MSSQL, MongoDB, Snowflake, or Redis.
Strong interest in distributed systems, infrastructure services, cloud technology and AI/ML techniques.
Prior experience with message broker technology such as Kafka or gRPC.
Prior experience or academic knowledge in AI, solutions, and technology is a plus.
Knowledge of modern front-end frameworks such as React, Vue.js, or Angular is a plus.
Excellent analytical and software architecture design skills, with an emphasis on test-driven development.
Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
Experience or real interest in finance, investments or portfolio management processes, and an ability to translate business problems into technical solutions

Our hybrid work model
