Team Overview

Securities Lending Operations supports the end-to-end lifecycle of BlackRock's global securities lending business. The team is responsible for transaction management, collateral management, inventory optimization, sufficiency monitoring, accounting and billing, reconciliations, counterparty support, and operational risk oversight. The function partners closely with Trading, Portfolio Management, Product, Technology, custodians, lending agents, brokers, and third-party service providers to facilitate lending activity while maintaining strong operational controls and regulatory compliance.

Role Overview

As an Associate within Securities Lending Operations, you will oversee daily operational activities supporting BlackRock's securities lending platform. You will take ownership of complex processes, manage operational exceptions, partner with stakeholders across the organization, and contribute to risk mitigation and continuous improvement initiatives. Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, operational risk awareness, and the ability to drive solutions in a fast-paced environment. The position provides significant exposure to securities lending products, collateral processes, market infrastructure, and operational controls.

Key Responsibilities

You will:

  • Oversee daily securities lending operational processes, ensuring transactions are processed accurately and within established control standards.
  • Monitor lending activity, collateral movements, inventory balances, and operational exceptions across global markets.
  • Investigate and resolve complex breaks, discrepancies, counterparty issues, and reconciliation exceptions.
  • Partner with Trading, Portfolio Management, Product, Technology, custodians, lending agents, brokers, and service providers to support business objectives.
  • Identify operational risks, escalate issues appropriately, and support remediation efforts to strengthen controls.
  • Produce and analyze operational reporting, risk metrics, service-level measures, and management information.
  • Contribute to automation, process improvement, and operating model enhancement initiatives that improve efficiency and scalability.
  • Support new business initiatives, client opportunities, market expansion efforts, and platform enhancements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, procedures, and governance controls in accordance with regulatory and internal requirements.
  • Provide guidance and support to Analysts while contributing to a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

You have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related discipline.
  • 2-5 years of experience in securities lending, investment operations, asset servicing, custody, capital markets, or a related financial services environment.
  • Strong understanding of securities, market infrastructure, trade lifecycle processes, or collateral management concepts.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and operate effectively in a fast-paced, risk-controlled environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and regions.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

It would be helpful if you also have:

  • Experience supporting securities lending, collateral operations, investment operations, or post-trade processes.
  • Knowledge of operational risk frameworks, reconciliations, exception management, and control environments.
  • Experience with data analysis, automation tools, workflow platforms, or process improvement initiatives.
  • Familiarity with investment management, asset servicing, or custody operating models.
  • Professional certifications such as CFA, CAIA, FRM, or equivalent.

Our hybrid work model
