Job Description:

The Sustainability Operations team sits within Trading Operations and is responsible for ensuring that T&S Refining and Products Trading Europe aligns with all regulatory requirements related to low‑carbon products derived from bio‑based, circular, and renewable sources. In this role, you will work closely with traders and physical operators to handle sustainability obligations for your part of the business and to optimise value within the rules of applicable sustainability schemes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all sustainability regulatory requirements are met for the sales and purchase agreements you lead.
  • Work closely with traders and trading operators to see opportunities to improve the profitability of trades while maintaining compliance.
  • Run quarterly mass balance processes for assigned physical storage locations, including closing, forecasting, and tracking sustainability stock positions.
  • Ensure all sustainability nominations and documentation are completed accurately and entered into the system of record in a timely manner.
  • Understand pricing concepts related to GHG escalators and collaborate with pricing teams to coordinate provisional and final invoicing based on GHG savings percentages.
  • Prepare for and participate in regular external sustainability audits throughout the year.
  • Develop knowledge of voluntary and national sustainability schemes such as ISCC EU, ISCC Plus, Nabisy, the Italian National Scheme, the Road Transport Fuel Obligation, and the Renewable Energy Directive.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by documenting ways of working and supporting enhancements to existing processes and systems.

Essential Experience and Skills

  • A strong interest in sustainability and the circular economy.
  • Knowledge of sustainability regulatory requirements for low‑carbon, bio‑based, circular, or renewable products.
  • Understanding of trading operations or commodity risk.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and sound decision‑making ability.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and maintain high attention to detail.
  • Ability to constructively challenge processes and assumptions.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate regulatory requirements to stakeholders.
