Job Description:

As the VP Talent, you will lead the development and execution of Castrol’s global talent strategy, ensuring the organisation is equipped with the leadership, capability and culture required to deliver its business ambitions. As Castrol establishes itself as a standalone company, you will shape and deliver a comprehensive talent agenda across three core pillars: Talent Management, Learning & Development, and Talent Acquisition.

Drive leadership development, succession planning, workforce capability, skills development, talent acquisition and employee engagement to enable a successful Day 1 transition and support long-term growth and value creation. Working closely with the SVP People & Culture (P&C), P&C Business Partners and senior leaders, you will translate business priorities into practical talent strategies, using insight, data and strong engagement to build an integrated enterprise approach.

  • Talent Management: Lead the design and implementation of global talent management programmes, including succession planning, performance management, leadership development and high-potential talent strategies.

  • Develop robust talent review and succession processes to ensure a robust pipeline of leaders and critical capability across the organisation.

  • Utilise data and analytics to assess talent needs, identify capability gaps and drive data-informed talent decisions.

  • Drive employee engagement and career development initiatives that enhance retention and organisational performance.

  • Focus on our key talent pools; early careers, advancing first level leaders, and advancing senior level leaders

  • Learning & Development: Define and implement Castrol’s learning and capability strategy to build the skills required for future business success.

  • Design and oversee leadership development frameworks, learning programmes and capability-building initiatives aligned to strategic priorities.

  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, growth and knowledge sharing across the organisation.

  • Leverage innovative learning approaches and technologies to enhance employee development and organisational capability.

  • Talent Acquisition: Lead the global talent acquisition strategy, ensuring Castrol attracts and hires diverse, high-caliber talent to meet current and future business needs.

  • Oversee workforce planning and strategic hiring programmes to support organisational growth and transformation.

  • Drive innovation in sourcing, assessment and recruitment practices, delivering an exceptional candidate experience.

  • Develop strategic partnerships with external talent providers, educational institutions and industry networks to strengthen talent pipelines.

  • Act as a strategic advisor to the SVP P&C and senior leadership on talent-related matters, including workforce planning, organisational design, leadership capability and change management.

  • Build and lead a high-performing Talent team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability and continuous improvement.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.

  • Extensive experience in senior HR or Talent leadership roles, preferably within a global organisation.

  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful talent strategies in a dynamic, complex business environment.

  • Solid understanding of core talent subject areas, including talent acquisition, talent development, performance management, employee engagement, succession planning, workforce planning and learning strategy.

  • Proven ability to apply agile ways of working and programme management disciplines to deliver enterprise-wide talent initiatives at pace.

  • Strong analytical capability, with experience using talent data, insights and reporting tools to assess needs, identify trends and support data-driven decisions.

  • Exceptional collaboration, communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage senior leaders and diverse teams across geographies.

  • Experience leading change, building strategic partnerships and fostering creativity and innovation in talent strategies.

  • Experience in customer-centred design applied to HR processes, creating simple, effective and engaging employee and candidate experiences.

  • Possession of a global perspective, with experience leading talent across diverse cultures, markets and operating environments.

  • Knowledge of HR data management, information security and compliance considerations relevant to talent and hiring processes.

  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or other operationally complex environments is highly desirable.

This is a Castrol requisition and the successful candidate will become part of the Castrol ring-fence ahead of the Castrol divestment later in 2026. From the point of the divestment, you will be employed fully by Castrol and no longer be a bp employee.
