Archiving Squad Data Engineer
Job Description
The Archiving Squad Data Engineer is responsible for implementing data extraction, transformation, and migration processes to support application retirement and enterprise archival initiatives.
The role is responsible for archiving data associated with retiring applications, including both structured and unstructured datasets, into the enterprise archiving platform (Solix Common Data Platform). The position also requires hands‑on experience in migrating historical data from legacy systems and existing archival solutions to modern archival repositories such as Cohesity and cloud‑based storage platforms. The candidate must ensure data integrity, regulatory compliance, security, and long‑term accessibility throughout the archival and migration lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include:
- Extract data from legacy applications and databases targeted for retirement.
- Implement data migration pipelines and archival workflows between retiring dataset to Solix platform
- Support migration of archival data from legacy platforms such as Solix to new archival environments.
- Develop SQL scripts and data transformation processes.
- Implement data ingestion pipelines into archival platform which is based on Solix platform.
- Perform data reconciliation and validation between source and archival systems.
- Maintain technical documentation for archival workflows and migration processes.
- Collaborate with architects, reporting teams, and QA teams during archival implementations.
- Support archived data migration from Solix based archival platform to Cohesity & cloud-based new archiving platform.
- Support integration with workflow systems such as Appian for data retrieval and approval processes.
Desired Profile
- The candidate should have strong data engineering capabilities with experience of working on data migration and archival solutions.
- Strong working experience with Solix Common Data Platform system
- Strong understanding of relational databases and SQL.
- Experience with large-scale data migration and ETL processes.
- Familiarity with archival or secondary storage platforms.
- Knowledge of cloud-based storage platforms primarily AWS
- Understanding of SDLC concepts and Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional technical teams.
Experience
- 5–8 years of experience in data engineering or database technologies.
- Experience working with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
- Experience in data extraction, transformation, and migration processes.
- Exposure to archival platforms such as Cohesity, Commvault, IBM Optim, Solix, or similar solutions.
- Experience working with cloud storage platforms such as AWS S3 or Azure Blob Storage.
- Experience in application retirement or data archival programs is preferred.
Education
- B.Tech. / BS in Computer Science; M.Tech / MS in Computer Science
Technical Certifications
- Solix CDP Application retirement certification
- AWS Data Engineer Certification
- Microsoft Azure Data Engineer Certification
- Certified SQL Developer or Database Administrator
- Cohesity DataProtect Certification (preferred)
- Cloud Fundamentals Certifications (AWS / Azure / GCP)
