We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our Private Banking business in the role of Credit Specialist to help shape bespoke, high-value lending solutions for Global High Net Worth & Ultra High Net Worth clients & their families. You’ll work side-by-side with Relationship Managers to originate, structure and execute complex credit opportunities—often secured against unique or “trophy” assets—balancing client ambition with disciplined risk management, strong governance and fair customer outcomes.

As an HSBC employee in the UK, you’ll have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

  • Originate new credit opportunities through HSBC Group collaboration and external professional networks.
  • Underwrite and execute complex loan and derivative structures, producing high-quality analysis, due diligence and credit submissions.
  • Structure lending against bespoke assets, applying creativity where conventional solutions don’t fit.
  • Negotiate legal documentation with clients and external counsel, ensuring robust and timely execution.
  • Monitor collateral, review limits and manage portfolio quality, adjusting structures/ratings as risk profiles change in line with risk appetite and controls.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Proven track record in developing high-quality lending opportunities and building trusted client and stakeholder relationship with High Net Worth / Ultra High Net Worth clients – essential
  • Excellent working knowledge of complex lending against assets such as Hedge Funds, Private Equities and “trophy” assets including Yachts & Aircrafts
  • Strong credit analysis, underwriting, portfolio management and risk judgement, with the ability to recommend appropriate structures - essential
  • Confident client-facing capability with Ultra High Net Worth individuals, including handling complex requirements
  • Excellent communication skills—able to simplify and present complex transactions clearly to varied audiences.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work independently, manage deadlines and balance competing priorities.
