We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Associate, Institutional Client Group (Public Sector)
The Institutional Client Group is HSBC’s global coverage team managing the bank’s relationships with Institutional Clients across Banks, Insurers, Asset Managers, Hedge Funds, Financial Sponsors and the Public Sector.
HSBC is a leading bank for coverage for Public Sector clients, having been recognised by Euromoney and IFR in recent years for its coverage of the sector.
The Public Sector is a key segment for HSBC, with coverage of central governments, multilateral development banks, development banks, government agencies, central banks, sovereign wealth funds and other select state owned entities, globally (this role will primarily focus on clients in the UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa). This means there is a wide client group across a broad risk taxonomy that is impacted by both macro trends and country specific dynamics.
This role is front-line, client facing, supporting London based bankers manage high-profile client relationships. This is a business origination role; you will develop new business, defend existing business and build relationships with clients and internal product partners to deliver HSBC products and services.

In This Role You’ll
- Proactively drive and co-ordinate the delivery of HSBC’s product and services to, continuously exploring opportunities that the client base presents
- Actively input into origination and execution process across HSBC’s Corporate and Institutional Bank product suite
- Develop a thorough understanding of the client base and ensuring strategic and business objectives are achieved
- Drive revenue generation against targets, product alignment, customer satisfaction, cost containment
- Support content creation and thought leadership for use with clients, and support broader initiatives linked to Public Sector clients for the benefit of the HSBC Group
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure that transactions are balanced against risk and return and safeguard the bank against any potential material loss
- Support senior MDs/Directors with managing their client relationships including execution of new business, strategic client planning
- Able to demonstrate relevant levels of knowledge and experience of working in Corporate and Investment Banking sector and the product / services that it provides i.e. global markets, securities services, capital markets, cash management and asset management
- Firm understanding of the structures and public policy missions of central governments, multilateral development banks, development banks, government agencies, central banks, and sovereign wealth funds
- High level of commercial awareness to be able to work with various sources of information to produce reports and presentations and other content
- Possess very good stakeholder management skills, coupled with a professional confidence that engender the view of a ‘Trusted Partner’ across a varied internal and external audience
- Demonstrate really good time management, planning and organisational skills with the ability to managing multiple tasks often with conflicting priorities
- Foreign language skills such as French & Russian are a bonus
