We’re currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Manager - Fraud Decisioning and Insights Payments..

UK Fraud protects HSBC UK, our customers and the communities we serve from the harm caused by financial crime. This role sits in Fraud Decisioning & Insights, focused on the day-to-day management and optimisation of fraud detection across the bank. You’ll take ownership of a core fraud typology or business area such as Payments, shaping strategies that identify emerging threats and reduce losses within risk appetite. Where fraud occurs, you’ll use root cause analysis to pinpoint control or process weaknesses and escalate actions to the right control owners and Fraud Control Design.

Success means detection systems performing optimally, rapid and effective response to flash fraud attacks and clear evidence that informs better controls and decision making. You’ll also develop colleagues and partner closely with Fraud Operations and Strategic Fraud Analytics to strengthen outcomes across customer experience and operational cost.

As an HSBC employee in the UK, you’ll have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

In this role you will:

  • Shape and implement fraud detection strategies across a core fraud typology - Cards, Payments or Lending/First Party fraud
  • Oversee ongoing monitoring of fraud detection systems to keep performance optimised and aligned to appetite
  • Coordinate response to flash fraud attacks for your typology or business area and support rapid containment and recovery
  • Interpret and manipulate large data sets to identify trends, issues and emerging fraud risks
  • Establish root cause analysis routines that identify control, process or procedural weaknesses and escalate to control owners and Fraud Control Design
  • Set alert treatment routines with operational teams so fraud alerts receive an appropriate strategy based on risk
  • Provide feedback to Fraud Operations where alerts have been released incorrectly and contribute to learning and improvements
  • Partner with Strategic Fraud Analytics to develop models and optimisation tooling that meet business requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Bring proven management-level experience within a Fraud Analytics or Fraud Strategy environment
  • Demonstrate detailed knowledge of payments and/or account opening processes
  • Show hands-on experience with fraud detection systems such as Feedzai, SAS EFM, Falcon, Biocatch, Hunter or Threatmetrix
  • Apply established capability in calibrating and optimising fraud detection tools and decisioning approaches
  • Evidence experience developing new processes and ways of working within a fraud strategy or analytics team
  • Demonstrate understanding of what best-in-class fraud analytics routines look like and how to embed them
  • Show experience working across multiple fraud typologies and engaging senior stakeholders
  • Operate effectively in a complex and matrixed environment, influencing decisions without direct authority
