As an Analyst / Associate in the EMEA Infrastructure SIG investment banking team in London you will work with market-leading professionals at the heart of the leading global investment bank.
The Infrastructure SIG investment banking team focuses on the investment banking coverage of Infrastructure Funds and the infra pockets of Sovereign Wealth Funds and Pension Funds. These clients are highly sophisticated investors, and the breadth of products and services we provide is extensive—spanning industries, geographies, and products (M&A, Leveraged Finance / DCM, ECM, structured products / derivatives). We offer debt, equity, and M&A advisory services to our clients as part of their routine activities of acquiring businesses (majority and minority stakes), refinancing / recapitalizing existing investments, or monetizing their mature investments via sale or IPO.
You will participate in the "full cycle" of transactional origination and execution including preparing marketing pitches, reviewing and formulating financial analysis, preparing and presenting internal committee memoranda and client presentations.
You will develop a deep knowledge of the infrastructure funds alongside strong function skills in the major areas of investment banking and will demonstrate the ability to become a senior officer who is capable of generating and executing their own transactions. Specifically, you will get exposure to a broad set of
- Sectors:
- Digital infrastructure (data centers, communication towers, fibre and optical cable networks);
- Transportation infrastructure (air ports, sea ports and container terminals, toll roads, EV charging, rail and mass transit and parking);
- Energy, power, utility and mining infrastructure (conventional, renewable and distributed generation, storage, transmission and distribution networks, water and waste): and
- Mission-critical services and social infrastructure
- Clients:
- Financial institutions including infrastructure investors, private equity firms, diversified alternative asset managers, sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, family offices and insurance capital providers;
Job responsibilities
- Develop content for strategic meetings with clients regarding M&A, ECM and DCM/debt transactions;
- Coordinate with industry, product, and country teams to ensure correct prioritization, positioning, and delivery of relevant content to our clients;
- Interact with senior team members and client management teams on a daily basis to execute transactions and discuss strategic alternatives;
- Defining, guiding and reviewing detailed valuation analysis, including DCF, trading comparables, transaction comparables, LBO and DDM analyses
- Work closely with clients to develop comprehensive transaction materials, including the preparation of business plans, performance analyses, due diligence reports and marketing materials;
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Previous working experience:
- in an investment banking front office role;
- in a relevant role at a top tier buy-side institution or consulting firm;
- Strong corporate finance proficiency and financial modelling skills;
- Ownership and initiative: ability to take ownership across a project/transaction, with exposure to industry, country, and product teams;
- Multi-tasking: ability to show initiative and support across several transactions in parallel, managing time appropriately across competing demands
- Impeccable communication details with the ability to effectively interact with senior professionals, clients and key stakeholders in other line of business;
- Self-directed, highly motivated, and able to work independently;
- Entrepreneurial spirit: strong commercial mindset, creativity, and a proactive approach to business development and origination.
- Ability to manage work across several transactions in parallel, managing time appropriately across competing demands; and
- Desire and/or experience in working in infrastructure-related sectors.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Bachelor's degree
- European language (in addition to English) is desired but not mandatory
This role encompasses the performance of regulated activity. The successful candidate will therefore be subject to meeting regulatory requirements in the assessment of fitness, propriety, knowledge and competence (as assessed by the Firm) and (where appropriate) approval by the relevant regulatory authorities to carry out such activities.
