Role summary

As the Marketing Strategy & Planning Manager, you will work at the heart of our marketing function, partnering closely with the Marketing Director and broader stakeholders to ensure marketing initiatives and plans are coherent, insight-led, and aligned to our commercial objectives. You will own the planning process, bringing structure and clarity to how the team sets priorities, tracks progress, and makes decisions.

You will build and maintain a clear performance narrative across the marketing portfolio — translating data and analysis into executive-ready communications that enable confident investment decisions. This is a role for someone who combines strategic rigour with strong analytical instincts, and who can operate as a trusted partner to senior leadership in a fast-moving, regulated environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the development and delivery of the annual marketing plans, working with teams across marketing, product, commercial, strategy, and finance.

  • Partner with channel owners to translate business priorities into clear objectives, target audiences, channel strategies, and measurement plans.
  • Run the core marketing performance reporting cadence, consolidating inputs into concise, executive-ready updates with drivers, risks, and actions.
  • Diagnose performance using data and insight, turning analysis into prioritised recommendations for course-correction and investment focus.

  • Partner with strategy and research to build and maintain a high-quality view of market, consumer, and competitor insights to strengthen planning and creative strategy.

  • Respond to executive ad-hoc requests. This includes, presentation development, and business analysis, ensuring leadership has the insights and support needed to make informed decisions.

  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying bottlenecks and implementing simplification and standardisation across planning and reporting.

  • Maintain rigorous governance and documentation, balancing speed with control requirements in a regulated environment.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills

  • Experience in marketing strategy, planning, and performance management within a consumer-focused organisation.
  • Strong analytical capability with the ability to interpret data, identify key drivers, and convert analysis into decisions and actions.
  • Excellent written communication skills with a track record of producing clear, high-quality business documents and narratives.
  • Advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills with the ability to create crisp, executive-ready reports for senior stakeholders.
  • Strong stakeholder management and trust-building skills, comfortable operating in a matrixed organisation.
  • High standards of operational rigour, including process design, documentation discipline, and attention to detail.
  • Strong controls mindset and ability to operate effectively in a regulated financial services environment.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills

  • Background in strategy/consulting or a similar structured problem-solving environment.
  • Experience supporting senior leadership with ExCo-style narratives and materials.
  • Familiarity with UK financial services market dynamics and consumer behaviour.
  • SQL capability for querying databases and generating insights (nice to have).
