As a Principal Transport Engineer, you'll:

  • Lead cutting-edge projects in active travel, streets design, and traffic engineering
  • Contribute to innovative solutions for cycle priority and traffic signal design
  • Apply and evolve best practices in urban transport planning
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver sustainable mobility solutions

Here's what you'll need
  • To be degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline (Engineering) and have achieved or be working towards a relevant professional accreditation e.g. CEng or CTPP.
  • Experience in the Traffic Engineering field with the ability to contribute to the success of a range of high profile transport projects, particularly in an urban environment and with experience in cycle priority and traffic signal design desirable.
  • Experience in applying design standards, that may include the Designing Streets, Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, Cycling by Design or Local Authority Street Design guidance.
  • Technical aptitude and experience in design and modelling software packages particularly AutoCad and LinSig.
  • To be able to competently liaise and communicate with clients and manage tasks using appropriate program, budget and quality controls.
  • This role can be based on a Hybrid basis from either our Glasgow or Edinburgh offices.

Full time employment with Jacobs is @ 40 hours per week, however work-life balance and flexibility is a key focus area for Jacobs and we’re happy to discuss hybrid, part-time and flexible working hours to suit you and our business.
