About the opportunity
Our Cost Management function within the Programmes & Advisory business unit provides capital project quantity surveying tasks across all industry sectors, delivering comprehensive pre- and post-contract cost consulting and commercial management services to our clients in the built environment and infrastructure sectors. We are looking for a passionate Cost Consultant apprentice who is eager to get stuck in and learn about the commercial delivery of buildings and infrastructure projects across all industry sectors.
This is an exciting opportunity to shape and deliver infrastructure programmes across the energy & power, transportation, and water sectors — supporting groundbreaking work that impacts communities and reshapes our built environment.
As an apprentice you can expect to get involved in:
- Cost estimating, checking and reviewing quantities and rates
- Cost planning
- Procurement strategy and reviewing documents
- Contracts drafting
- Change control and reviewing variations
- Carrying out site-based valuations for payment
- Shadowing client and contractor meetings
- Driving and supporting knowledge sharing sessions
- Supporting directors and other staff with checking documents
As a new apprentice in the Commercial, Funding & Finance team, you will have the support of a mentor and your team to oversee and guide your development. You will be supported with your degree education, and to achieve chartered status with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) through the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC).
- A minimum of 120 UCAS tariff points or equivalent
- A keen interest in developing a career in the consultancy and surveying sector
- Strong communication and teamworking skills
- A flexible and proactive self-starter who’s passionate about developing new skills
- The ability to adapt and prioritise whilst juggling work and study priorities
- Enthusiasm and curiosity to apply your skills to solve real-world problems
- Empathy and listening skills to help you truly understand our clients’ requirements
- A well-rounded person – worked in a bar? Been captain of a sports team or volunteered for a charity? Tell us – we’re looking for people with interesting stories and experiences!
- You must have the permanent right to work in the UK
