For approximately eight weeks in the summer, you’ll work in one of our hub office locations across the UK or Ireland. Here, you’ll collaborate with world-class professionals in a dynamic environment, applying the skills you’ve honed in the classroom to real business challenges.

The Opportunity

We’re excited to be offering Airport Planning Summer Internships in our Manchester office.

Jacobs’ Transportation group has an enviable reputation in Highways, Rail and Aviation. Our internationally respected Aviation team are active at all major UK airports, including Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester, with a growing portfolio of overseas commissions. Our experts lead and support a wide range of airport projects globally, working for major clients to create better, efficient, and more sustainable aviation solutions.

We’re looking for Airport Planning Interns to join our growing Aviation team, working on a number of high-profile airport development projects. You’ll get to be a part of a friendly, dynamic, diverse and international team where we all share the same passion for aircraft and airports. We work flexibly, allowing you to gain experience in one or more of the following areas: master planning, airfield planning, terminal planning, and capacity planning.

During your internship with the Aviation team, you'll have the opportunity to get involved with:

• Working with airport planning experts and specialists, reporting to a team lead
• Producing drawings
• Undertaking analyses using a variety of models and computer packages
• Writing reports
• Liaising with clients and essential stakeholders

• On track to complete a degree in Aviation Transport Management, Air Transport Management, Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, Transport Engineering, or Architecture.
• A flexible and innovative self-starter who’s passionate about developing new skills.
• Enthusiasm and curiosity to apply your skills to solve real-world problems.
• Empathy and listening skills to help you truly understand our clients’ requirements.
• A well-rounded individual - have you worked in a bar? Been captain of a sports team or volunteered for a charity? Tell us - we’re looking for people with interesting stories and experiences!
• You must be available to join the 8-week programme starting 29th June 2026 – 21st August 2026.
• You must have the full right to work in the UK.
• You must be a penultimate year student, finishing your degree in 2027.

Apply before 30th January 2026 for your application to be considered in the first assessment window. You can still apply after this date if the role remains open to applications.
