Our expanding UK Energy Advisory business is seeking a Principal Engineer to join our Renewable Energy Advisory team, supporting growth across the power sector from solar PV, wind and storage to transmission, distribution and behind-the-meter connections. In this role, you will manage and deliver a range of advisory services, drive innovation in power generation solutions, and help shape the future of sustainable energy projects while mentoring the next generation of engineers. Key responsibilities include:
Technical Advisory:
- Modelling and model verification, Options Appraisals, Feasibility Studies, Pre-FEED, FEED, Life Cycle Cost Analysis, Technology specific Owners Engineering services.
- Determining equipment performance specifications and key inputs in the development or review of engineering design through-out project life-cycle.
- Leading and contributing to coherent and concise technical reports and proposals.
- Technical lead and being accountable for key tasks and quality data outputs through project reviewer role.
- Engaging with a range of stakeholders at all levels including leading and contributing to client meetings & presentations, technical discussions, etc.
- Project Management of multidisciplinary project teams, coordinating activities across various technical domains.
Technical Innovation and Best Practices:
- Identify and use technical tools to support project delivery and contribute to the development of best practices and standard methodologies.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and technological advancements in renewables.
- Input to thought leadership within Jacobs and externally.
Client Management and Business Development:
- Develop client relationships, leading progress meetings and presentations.
- Collaborate with our sales team and conduct other business development activities to grow the Renewable Energy portfolio and pipeline.
- Prepare compelling proposals to secure new business opportunities.
- Significant engineering experience that includes time working on renewable generation projects and their integration, either in consultancy or development (solar PV, wind, BESS, etc).
- Minimum of a relevant engineering Degree or higher (e.g. Masters or PhD).
- Membership of, or working towards a recognised professional institution /organisation preferably at a Chartered level.
- Knowledge of the UK & Continental Europe Renewable Energy market, key growth areas and global market insight.
- Strong project management skills, including ability to develop clear work programmes and delegate requirements to other team members.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, ability to engage with colleagues and clients and provide clear, evidence-based advice verbally and within written reports and presentations in English.
- Capability to work under tight deadlines while achievingobjectiveswith the ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately.
- Experience of team leadership and the training/ mentoring of junior staff.
- Flexibility to travel between offices and client locations on occasion- our team is based at offices in England, Scotland and Wales.
