Your impact

The Process Engineer will play a key role in delivering high performance manufacturing solutions across Jacobs’ Advanced Manufacturing portfolio. This role focuses on developing, optimizing, and validating production processes for clients in sectors such as semiconductors, and high tech manufacturing. The engineer will work within multidisciplinary project teams to design robust processes, improve efficiency, and ensure compliance with industry standards and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead process design activities including mass/energy balances, PFDs, P&IDs, equipment sizing, and process modelling for new and existing manufacturing systems.
  • Develop and optimise manufacturing processes to improve throughput, yield, safety, sustainability, and cost efficiency.
  • Support front end engineering design (FEED), detailed design, commissioning, and start up activities for advanced manufacturing facilities.
  • Conduct process hazard analyses (HAZOP, LOPA) and ensure alignment with safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, controls, and project management teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
  • Prepare technical documentation including specifications, design reports, operating procedures, and validation protocols.
  • Engage directly with clients to understand requirements, present design solutions, and support decision making throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Troubleshoot process issues and provide technical guidance during construction and commissioning phases.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and the development of best practices within the Advanced Manufacturing team.
Here's what you'll need
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in process engineering within advanced manufacturing, industrial engineering, or a related high tech sector.
  • Proven experience with process design tools (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, ChemCAD, or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of process safety, risk assessment methodologies, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple project priorities.
  • Experience supporting commissioning, start up, or operational troubleshooting.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with clients and internal stakeholders.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in semiconductor, data centres or other high purity/cleanroom environments.
  • Knowledge of sustainability principles, energy efficiency, and decarbonisation strategies in manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with digital engineering tools, data analytics, or automation/controls integration.
  • Chartered Engineer status or progress toward professional accreditation.
