Associate Director (Team Lead)

As Team Lead for our Glasgow and Edinburgh offices, you will play a critical role in shaping an environment where people feel supported, connected and able to perform at their best. Leading a team of approximately 40 professionals, you will provide visible, inclusive and values-driven leadership, creating a culture where individuals feel a strong sense of belonging, are empowered to grow, and are motivated to contribute to shared success.
This role is fundamental to ensuring our people are engaged, our teams are aligned, and we deliver consistently strong outcomes for our clients and our business.
About the opportunity
The Team Lead is an essential member of the Bridges & Structures capability, accountable for the day-to-day management, performance and wellbeing of the Glasgow and Edinburgh teams.You will work closely with the Capability Director, Heads of Capability, Technical Lead, People Leaders and Resource Coordinators, acting as the key link between our people, projects and strategic objectives.This role requires a strong and visible presence across both offices. The Team Lead will be expected to attend the office a minimum of three days per week and maintain a regular and balanced presence in both Glasgow and Edinburgh locations to ensure effective leadership, engagement and team cohesion. The home office location will be either Glasgow or Edinburgh, with a preference for Glasgow.
Key deliverables: (not limited to)
- Delivering for our clients – ensuring project delivery excellence and standardisation, championing our culture and contributing to risk management.
- Leading our people to create and sustain a positive, inclusive and high-performing team culture.
- Drive office attendance through creative initiatives.
- Drive local recruitment in line with the Bridges and Structures Capability recruitment plan and contribution to strategic long -term resource planning.
- Drive innovation by identifying and implementing data-driven, automated, and standardised solutions to improve project efficiency and productivity.
- Take accountability for team performance, utilisation and day-to-day operational management.
- Maintain compliance in time recording, training, workforce planning and governance processes

- A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or a related discipline)
- A professional qualification ICE/IStructE Chartered or equivalent
- Excellent report writing, collaboration and time management skills
- Either project and/or discipline management and leadership skills related to bridge design (or other disciplines)
- And/or strong technical design and practical problem-solving skills
- Proven leadership and people management capability
We are particularly interested to hear from candidates with experience in major crossings and/or projects, rail, asset management, structures renewals and post-tensioned structures, including post-tensioned special inspections (PTSI).
