At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission-critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting-edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good.

Your impact

You'll play a key role in shaping the infrastructure people rely on every day.

Whether it's improving the resilience of ageing bridge assets, delivering complex structures for major transport programmes, or helping clients reduce carbon through smarter engineering decisions, your expertise will directly influence the quality, safety and sustainability of critical infrastructure across the UK.

This is an opportunity to do more than deliver designs.

You'll help solve challenging technical problems, guide less experienced engineers, influence project outcomes and play a visible role in delivering projects that have a lasting impact on communities, transport networks and the environment.

Your technical judgement, leadership and ability to balance engineering excellence with practical delivery will help clients make informed decisions and ensure projects achieve the best possible outcomes.

About the opportunity

We're growing our Bridges & Structures team at a time when investment in infrastructure renewal, sustainability and asset resilience is creating exciting technical challenges across the industry.

As a Senior Engineer, you'll contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects spanning highways, rail, aviation, energy and power. From assessing and extending the life of existing assets to designing innovative new structures, you'll work on projects that combine technical complexity with real-world impact.

You'll collaborate with specialists across the UK and internationally, gaining exposure to a wide range of engineering challenges while remaining closely connected to project delivery and client outcomes.

What makes this opportunity different is the variety and scale of work available. You'll have the chance to develop expertise across multiple sectors, contribute to nationally significant infrastructure programmes and help shape how engineering solutions are delivered through digital and sustainable approaches.

Success in this role means becoming a trusted technical leader, delivering high-quality solutions, supporting clients through complex challenges and helping develop the next generation of engineers.

Here's what you'll need
  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline
  • Chartered Engineer status, or a clear pathway towards achieving chartership in the near future
  • Experience delivering structural engineering projects within infrastructure, transportation, energy, utilities or related sectors
  • Strong structural analysis, design and engineering problem-solving capability
  • Experience leading elements of project delivery, coordinating stakeholders and managing technical outputs

We are particularly interested to hear from candidates with experience in asset management, structures renewals and post-tensioned structures, including post-tensioned special inspections (PTSI).
