As our UK and Continental Europe team continues to expand, we are seeking a Building Services Lead to support a range of high-profile projects across our Energy & Power portfolio. This includes high voltage AIS and GIS Substations, transmission system assets, HVDC interconnectors, and energy storage systems.
We have a highly skilled team of M&E designers that work across all of our industries, and we are looking for a technical specialist in M&E design for HV substations, to lead our design teams and bring the benefits of your specialist experience into our projects
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead building services FEED and detailed design workstreams for TSO, DNO, Contractor and Developer clients
- Ensure quality assurance and timely delivery of design packages and bids
- Lead Building Services aspects in delivery, including layouts, calculations and specifications
- Lead the design and integration of HVAC systems, ventilation, dehumidification, and environmental control systems for GIS substations, and other critical electrical infrastructure
- Lead building services engineering for HVDC converter stations, including HVAC systems, cooling infrastructure, pressurised rooms, fire suppression systems, and auxiliary electrical services
- Design and specify gas monitoring, leak detection, and emergency ventilation systems
- Coordinate with design engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors
- Attend and contribute to design reviews, hazard reviews, FATs and SATs
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers
- Support tendering activities and contribute to technical offers
- Maintain strong client relationships and support business development
- Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent Building Services qualification/experience
- Proven experience in HV substation design (132kV–400kV) and / or HVDC Converter Stations, ideally within UK Transmission and Distribution (T&D) environments
- Proven relevant project design experience in building services electrical engineering and HVAC systems
- Familiarity with T&D standards and processes including National Grid, SSE and IEC
- MCIBSE / MIET CEng accreditation (or actively working towards it)
- Strong knowledge of UK building regulations
- Proven project leadership and people management capabilities
- Excellent technical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to deliver high-quality, innovative solutions in a multidisciplinary environment
