This role will be based in our Stevenage office, working alongside our Local Authority client.

About the opportunity

We are seeking an Engineer with knowledge in drainage and particular experience in highway drainage design. You’ll join a team that has a reputation in the UK Transportation consultancy sector as a result of a growing portfolio of Local Authority work.

As part of a global drainage delivery team, you will play a key role in delivering transportation drainage design services, focussed on the needs of Local Authority projects.

Responsibilities:

Providing deliverables and solutions to drainage elements on schemes and problems

Production and review of feasibility studies, technical reports, detailed designs and production of contract documents across a variety of projects

Reporting of progress

Liaising with clients, stakeholders and other disciplines with support and assistance of your reporting manager

Help seek innovative solutions in achieving best value in delivering our services;

Assist in the estimation of works costs and bidding of new works

Support to undertake CDM responsibilities under role of Designer.

Report on progress on a regular basis and forecast progress and costs including preparation of designs, reports, specifications, and other deliverables for their schemes.

Ensure Jacobs quality systems are being actively employed.

Here's what you'll need

A degree in Civil Engineering or similar discipline

Membership of an appropriate professional institution and working towards Chartered or Incorporated status

Knowledge of H&S legislation

Ability using drainage modelling software and tools

Experience of delivering at variety of scheme stages for drainage and/or transportation projects

Confident with proven interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to produce accurate and well written reports

Understanding of DMRB, SuDS Manual and other standards and areas not covered by standards in related to area of expertise.

Proven experience in design of highway drainage systems and construction of highway drainage schemes (preferred)

Ability to develop relationships and trust at all levels of the organisation and with Clients.
