About this opportunity
We’re transforming how Security and Compliance are engineered across Lloyds Banking Group—leveraging data, automation and modern architectures to protect our customers at scale.
Within the Chief Security Office, the Security Data & AI Lab is building next-generation monitoring and compliance capabilities that move beyond traditional controls towards continuous, intelligence-driven assurance.
As a Technical Application Specialist – Compliance Engineering, you’ll design, build and evolve regulatory security monitoring solutions that operate at enterprise scale—ensuring our controls are not only effective, but engineered for resilience, automation and auditability.
This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of security, data engineering and modern platform delivery, helping shape the future of compliance in a fast-evolving landscape.
What you’ll be doing:
Design, build and continuously improve regulatory Security Monitoring and Compliance capabilities, ensuring controls are scalable, testable and auditable.
Engineer and enhance security telemetry and monitoring solutions (including Database Activity Monitoring) to support detection, assurance and regulatory requirements.
Develop and maintain telemetry configurations and security monitoring use cases, integrating diverse data sources across cloud and on-premises environments.
Embed continuous compliance by automating control validation, monitoring and evidencing within engineering workflows.
Apply modern engineering practices such as automation, CI/CD, testing, infrastructure and configuration as code to improve reliability and efficiency.
Contribute to the evolution of platform-based security capabilities, challenging existing processes and introducing standardisation and engineering best practice.
Produce high-quality technical documentation and ensure our monitoring solutions are maintainable and scalable.
Why join us?
We’re on an exciting journey to transform our Group and the way we’re shaping finance for good. We’re focusing on the future, investing in our technologies, workplaces, and colleagues to make our Group a great place for everyone.
What we’re looking for:
We’re looking for a curious, driven engineer who brings an engineering mindset to security and compliance—focused on building scalable, automated solutions rather than manual processes.
You’ll bring:
Experience working with security monitoring or telemetry platforms, such as Database Activity Monitoring or similar.
Strong technical capability with an understanding of data pipelines, ingestion patterns and automation.
Knowledge of security logging, monitoring, detection engineering or regulatory control environments (e.g. SOX, SWIFT CSP, audit logging).
Experience or familiarity with modern cloud platforms (e.g. GCP, AWS or Azure) and associated system architectures.
A structured, analytical approach to problem solving with a focus on outcomes and continuous improvement.
Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering and security teams.
And any of these would be great:
Scripting or programming experience (using Python, SQL or similar).
Exposure to DevSecOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
Experience working with observability platforms, SIEM tools or data analytics frameworks.
Understanding of distributed systems or event-driven architectures.
Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
Interest in, or exposure to, the use of AI and automation in security and compliance.
We know that great talent comes from many backgrounds. Whilst this job advert may reference specific years of experience, we recognise that skills are developed in many ways, so if you have relevant, transferable experience, we encourage you to apply.
