Junior Supplier Manager

We're looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual to join our Finance & Commercial Function. This is a great opportunity for someone to gain a good grounding in supplier management and aspects of finance operations within a dynamic and ever evolving environment.
You'll play a key role in helping the business get the best value from its supplier relationships, ensuring we manage risk effectively and maintain strong, productive partnerships. You'll work closely with the Finance Operations Manager and collaborate with colleagues across the business to keep our supplier base well-governed and commercially sound.
We are currently a team of over 400 client facing consultants and 150 Head Office staff at Newton. We are looking for a bright and capable individual to join us in a permanent role based in our Head Office in Kingston Bagpuize, Oxfordshire (at least 3 days a week in the office). Our Finance Operations Team is encompassed within the Finance and Commercial Function.
Key Responsibilities:
Supplier Management & Value for Money
- Support the management and oversight of the company's supplier base, ensuring relationships are delivering value and aligned with business needs.
- Help maintain accurate and up-to-date supplier records, including contract registers and key terms.
- Contribute to supplier reviews and due diligence processes, escalating any concerns appropriately.
- Assist in reviewing supplier performance, identifying opportunities to improve value for money and drive efficiencies.
Risk Management
- Apply a risk-based approach to supplier oversight, helping to identify, assess and monitor potential supplier risks.
- Support the development and maintenance of supplier risk registers, flagging issues to the Finance Operations Manager as appropriate.
- Assist in ensuring suppliers meet relevant compliance, financial stability, and contractual requirements.
ISO Compliance & Audits
- Ensure all supplier management activities are carried out in line with the company's ISO requirements and internal quality standards.
- Support the preparation and coordination of ISO audits, providing relevant supplier documentation, records and evidence as required.
- Help maintain accurate and audit-ready records throughout the year, contributing to a culture of continuous compliance rather than just point-in-time readiness.
- Work closely with the Finance Operations Manager and relevant stakeholders to address any audit findings or corrective actions relating to supplier management processes.
Purchase Ledger Support
- Provide cover and support to the purchase ledger function on an ad hoc basis, as business demand requires, gaining insight and experience into supplier spend.
- Assist with the accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices and payments when needed.
- Help resolve supplier queries and payment discrepancies in a professional and timely manner.
General Team Support
- Work collaboratively with the wider Finance & Commercial Function on projects and initiatives as required.
- Help maintain process documentation and contribute to continuous improvement efforts within the team through embracing new technologies and AI as they develop.

Skills and experiences we are looking for:
- Organised and methodical, with a strong sense of ownership over your work.
- Experience having worked in a finance, procurement, or commercial administration role.
- A good understanding of, or keen interest in, supplier and contract management principles.
- Collaborative and approachable, with a willingness to support the wider team when needed.
- Confidence to challenge constructively and influence stakeholders at different levels.
- Comfortable working with data and systems — strong attention to detail is essential.
- A continuous improvement mentality with a proactive, can-do attitude.

We offer a highly competitive salary (£42k - £46k) and our generous benefits package includes Life Assurance, Income Protection, pension contributions and 27 days holiday (not including bank holidays). We also operate a profit share scheme so that our people share in the success of the business. The profit share bonus is based on company performance and typically paid out in March and September.
