Special Situations M&A, Senior Associate

PWC Uk

PWC Uk

London, UK
Posted on Mar 21, 2026

About the role:

Our Special Situations M&A team helps companies preserve value, reduce risk and address business change through M&A transactions — often in situations of complexity, sensitivity or corporate stress. Our work spans the breadth of accelerated M&A, corporate divestment and other bespoke transactions. We have seen significant growth in client demand for these services and are looking to grow the team as a result.

As a Senior Associate, you will be working alongside experienced colleagues, supporting clients through sales processes, acquisitions, strategic options reviews and accelerated M&A. You’ll have the chance to develop commercial insight, build strong networks and contribute to high-profile projects that make a real impact.

Given the number of transactions we close in a year, you will be able to rapidly develop a breadth of skills across various stages of a deal lifecycle and gain exposure to a multitude of sectors. As you gain experience, there are opportunities to take on more responsibility and step into more senior roles in transactions.

This role is ideal for someone who wants to develop their career in M&A, enjoys problem-solving in fast-changing environments, and is motivated by delivering tangible outcomes for clients and wider stakeholders.

What your days will look like:

  • Review businesses to assess viability, valuation and capital structure options.

  • Support companies in preparing for sale, including developing documentation and executing transactions.

  • Monitor cash flows and assess business performance under different scenarios.

  • Develop and deliver strategies to preserve and maximise value in complex situations.

  • Manage transaction processes from start to completion, coordinating advisors and stakeholders.

  • Lead day-to-day workstreams and coach junior colleagues.

  • Build networks and contribute to winning new client opportunities.

  • Support senior colleagues with proposals, presentations and client development.

The role is for you if:

  • Experience working on transactions, or a strong desire to develop M&A capability.

  • Corporate finance or restructuring experience (preferred but not essential).

  • Strong financial analysis and modelling skills (or willingness and ability to develop these quickly).

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.

  • Experience working with clients and stakeholders in challenging or fast-paced situations.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly.

  • Confidence in managing parts of a transaction process and collaborating with advisors.

  • Ability to work effectively in teams and contribute to a supportive environment.

  • Commercial curiosity and an interest in deal-making.

  • Must possess an ACA/CA/ACCA qualification (or international equivalent) or have equivalent work experience. This includes international candidates who qualify through experience in their home country.

What you’ll receive from us:

No matter where you may be in your career or personal life, our benefits are designed to add value and support, recognising and rewarding you fairly for your contributions.

We offer a range of benefits including empowered flexibility and a working week split between office, home and client site; private medical cover and 24/7 access to a qualified virtual GP; six volunteering days a year and much more.
