Legal Sector Strategy Consultant - Senior Manager
PWC Uk
About the role
Law firms are being pushed to deliver more value at greater pace, with pricing and productivity under scrutiny and AI changing how work is delivered and bought.
In this role you will help law firm leaders set direction and execute - shaping firm and practice strategy, improving commercial performance (pricing, profitability, revenue discipline), and scaling AI-enabled ways of working with clear governance and measurable outcomes.
You will act as a trusted extension of executive teams: rigorous on the numbers, credible in the partnership context, and pragmatic about what it takes to get change done.
What your days will look like
- Lead complex, multi-workstream engagements for leading law firms across growth strategy, operating model, business services performance, finance transformation and commercial excellence
- Build board-ready materials: options, business cases, implementation roadmaps, risks and benefits tracking
- Design and deliver pricing and profitability programmes, including rate strategy and architecture, discount discipline, deal governance, profitability models and pricing tool requirements
- Diagnose leakage and performance drivers across matters, practices, offices and client segments, then mobilise practical fixes
- Support firm leadership to define an AI strategy and roadmap: priority use cases, tooling choices, governance, data foundations, adoption and incentives
- Develop, package and scale propositions and diagnostics (strategy, AI, pricing, service-to-cash, operating model), turning delivery into repeatable IP
- Originate and lead pursuits: shape the storyline, team, approach, commercials and delivery model
- Develop and deepen senior relationships across Managing Partners, Boards, CFOs/COOs, Heads of Pricing, Heads of BD and Transformation leaders
- Contribute to team leadership: coaching, quality control, risk management and people development
This role is for you if
- Senior Consulting experience (Senior Manager or equivalent) with a strong track record leading engagements end-to-end
- Meaningful experience in a law firm or professional services environment (in-house, advisory, or repeated sector delivery), with credibility in partnership-led contexts
- Strong understanding of law firm economics: pricing and recovery, leverage, matter profitability, partner incentives, BD dynamics and operating model constraints
- Confidence with diagnostics and analytics: you can build and defend a commercial story from imperfect data
- Executive presence: you are calm under pressure, can challenge constructively, and can influence without formal authority
- Experience building propositions or tools (diagnostics, playbooks, benchmarks) and scaling them across a practice is desirable
- Familiarity with AI transformation in professional services, including adoption and governance, not just the technology is highly valued
