The Business Relationships team is central to PwC’s ability to pursue innovative collaborations while maintaining strict compliance with independence regulations. As the firm expands its service offerings and global reach, the Business Relationships team’s work is increasingly business critical. You will gain exposure to a wide range of PwC activities, build a strong internal network, and contribute directly to the firm’s strategic objectives. We are looking for a Senior Associate who is solutions-focussed, skilled at building relationships, enjoys being at the heart of change, and who wants to be part of a cohesive, vibrant and established sub-team within Corporate Independence. The position would suit someone who has a background in independence, professional services or risk management, but what is more important is that you have a willingness to learn a new technical area, a client service mentality, excellent coaching and communication skills and you want to join a growing and dynamic team that provides critical business support to the firm in a complex and changing regulatory environment.

What your days will look like:

  • Analyse and assess UK and EMEA Joint Business Relationships (JBRs), ensuring compliance with relevant independence rulesets (e.g., FRC Ethical Standard, SEC, Global Independence Policy).
  • Act as an independence specialist within the global JBR Centre of Excellence, supporting consistent, high‑quality reviews across the network.
  • Provide clear, well‑reasoned advice on independence queries, including interpreting rules, developing guidance, and reviewing advice prepared by junior team members.
  • Manage and coach junior colleagues, acting as a role model and supporting their technical, soft‑skill, and professional development.
  • Own a portfolio of consultations and assessments, liaising confidently with senior stakeholders—including partners and directors—to deliver guidance and communicate difficult messages where needed.
  • Oversee day‑to‑day operational processes and contribute to ad‑hoc independence projects as required.

The role is for you if:

  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to understand and empathise with client‑facing teams supported by Independence.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational and project‑management skills, with the judgement to handle detailed information accurately.
  • Clear, confident communicator—capable of delivering complex or challenging messages effectively at all levels.
  • Flexible and collaborative, able to balance others’ demands, influence outcomes, and adjust approach when needed.
  • Skilled relationship‑builder with proven ability to influence, support and work closely with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A proactive, conscientious team player with strong self‑management, people‑development experience, and a collaborative approach to problem‑solving (independence or risk management experience desirable).

What you’ll receive from us:

No matter where you may be in your career or personal life, our benefits are designed to add value and support, recognising and rewarding you fairly for your contributions.

We offer a range of benefits including empowered flexibility and a working week split between office, home and client site; private medical cover and 24/7 access to a qualified virtual GP; six volunteering days a year and much more.
