PWC Uk
Accounting & Finance
London, UK · Birmingham, UK
About the team
The Capital Markets, Accounting Advisory and Structuring (CMAS) team advises clients on accounting, company law and capital markets matters across both transactions (including M&A, listings, and debt raises) and business-as-usual scenarios (including finance transformation, accounting and regulatory change, and internal restructures).
Our multidisciplinary team brings deep technical expertise and broad market experience across a wide range of industries. We support senior clients as they navigate an increasingly complex and rapidly changing environment, helping them design solutions that meet commercial objectives while addressing regulatory, accounting, and capital markets requirements. In Deals, we provide strategic guidance across mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, restructurings and transformational business events, helping clients navigate complex transactions and maximise value. We advise multi‑national, publicly‑traded companies and private equity firms on a broad range of technical accounting, financial reporting and capital markets topics, including IPOs, debt offerings, private placements and post‑deal accounting.
Within this, our CMAS Digital Accounting team is at the forefront of transforming how we deliver services by embedding technology into everything we do. We combine deep technical accounting knowledge with digital skills to develop innovative solutions that drive efficiency, insight, and quality. Whether it's automating manual tasks, streamlining complex reporting processes, or deploying AI-enabled solutions, we are redefining what advisory services look like in today’s market.
The Role
As part of a team of specialists, your role as a Manager in CMAS will involve applying technical expertise to solve problems and advise clients as they navigate changes in their business.
Specifically, we are looking for a Digital Accountant with a strong background in accounting and audit. We are looking for agile and flexible individuals who are able to identify tech-enabled solutions to client problems using a mix of technical accounting and reporting expertise, allied with the right digital mindset. You will help our clients design and deploy data analytics and technology solutions to meet their financial reporting requirements.
Managers in CMAS take ownership of substantial workstreams, support the design of solutions, coach junior team members, and contribute to building strong client relationships. You will be a key part of small, specialist teams with a flat structure, working directly with Directors and Partners. You will be accountable for planning, budgeting, execution and completion of projects, partnering with leadership to drive collective ownership of quality, timelines and deliverables. You will lead with integrity and authenticity, articulating our purpose and values, and you will embrace technology and innovation to enhance delivery, including the use of digitisation tools and data‑enabled approaches.
What your days will look like:
Leading teams and major workstreams on digital accounting advisory projects, with accountability for project planning, budgeting, execution and successful completion
Advise and assist clients in developing digital solutions to complex accounting and reporting issues under IFRS, UK GAAP and/or US GAAP
Utilise technology tools such as Alteryx, Power Query, Power BI and Excel to help clients automate accounting and reporting processes and solve complex accounting and reporting issues
Preparation of accounting position papers, accounting analyses, historical financial information, financial statements, and carve-out accounts
Supporting client relationship development, helping senior team members identify opportunities and contribute to business growth
Managing and coaching junior colleagues, ensuring effective delivery, quality review, and development support
Project management skills with the ability to manage time, prioritise time-sensitive projects, and successfully collaborate with internal and external stakeholder groups to manage them through transformational events
Analysing and identifying linkages across the component parts of complex systems (business, accounting and reporting), to inform pragmatic, commercial solutions
This role is for you if:
ACA (or international equivalent) qualification
Strong technical accounting skills, with experience in IFRS (and ideally UK GAAP)
Proficiency to an intermediate level with extensive day to day use and/or certifications in Alteryx, Power Query, Power BI, or similar data analysis tools (such as Excel) at an intermediate level or higher
Demonstrated ability to understand and manage technical accounting issues, delivering high-quality technical analysis and client-ready reports
Agility in learning and mastering new data analytics tools, accounting technologies and accounting frameworks
Strong project management skills, including ability to manage timelines, coordinate stakeholders, and oversee multiple workstreams
Strong commercial awareness and the ability to understand and solve client problems with a practical, business-oriented mindset
Proven ability to lead teams and manage client accounts, motivating, developing and inspiring others to deliver quality
