Forward Deployed Engineer - Senior Manager
London, UK
PwC is looking for talented Forward Deployed Engineers to join a growing engineering community that works at the intersection of business needs, emerging technology and disciplined software engineering.
As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will work close to real business problems, partnering with teams across PwC to turn early-stage ideas into working proof-of-concept software at pace. This is a hands-on engineering role with strong business exposure. It is not a non-technical translator role or a prompt-only analyst role and you will be expected to have and demonstrate development experience and familiarity working with code, repos and SDLC models.
You will work with a specific business team while also contributing to a wider engineering community. You will help build rapid prototypes, reusable technical patterns and AI-enabled solutions that can be validated quickly and, where appropriate, developed further for live use by PwC’s technology and innovation teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand challenges, validate assumptions and identify opportunities for innovative technical proof-of-concepts.
- Design and build rapid prototypes using approved tools, secure engineering practices and AI-enabled development technologies.
- Integrate APIs, data sources, AI models and workflows to create functional proof-of-concept solutions that deliver business value.
- Apply robust software engineering standards including version control, code reviews, testing, defect management and secure coding practices.
- Document solution architecture, security and compliance considerations, production readiness gaps and opportunities for reuse and scalability.
- Champion Responsible AI principles and share reusable components, best practices and lessons learned across the engineering community.
The skills and experience we’re looking for:
- Hands-on software engineering experience.
- Experience building prototypes, integrations, digital products or automation solutions.
- Practical experience with Git-based development workflows.
- Experience using AI-enabled development tools or coding assistants.
- Understanding of secure development practices and data governance.
- Ability to work at pace in ambiguous environments.
- Strong communication skills and confidence working directly
