The Position

In Roche’s Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development organisation (pRED), we make transformative medicines for patients to tackle some of the world’s toughest unmet healthcare needs. At pRED, we are united by our mission to transform science into medicines. Together, we create a culture defined by curiosity, responsibility, and humility, where our talented people are empowered and inspired to bring forward extraordinary, life-changing innovation at speed.

At the intersection of science and innovation, pRED’s Pharmaceutical Sciences (PS) organisation enables the discovery and development of safe and effective therapeutics at optimal doses in relevant populations with a vision to power translation, continuously improve the accuracy of our predictions and accelerate the development of tomorrow's medicines. By seamlessly integrating our three core pillars—Translational Safety, Translational Pharmacology, and Biomarkers—we drive end-to-end asset development across the entire value chain, from target assessment to on-market support. Our mission is to continuously improve predictive accuracy, optimise dosing strategies for the right patient populations, and accelerate the development of tomorrow's safe and effective therapeutics.

This position sits within the Clinical Pharmacology Section in the Quantitative Clinical Pharmacology Department in pRED / Pharmaceutical Sciences, but maintains a company-wide footprint. The scope of influence transcends individual teams, regularly partnering across major organisational boundaries and cross-entities (e.g., pRED, gRED, PDR) to shape institutional knowledge.

The Opportunity

In this role, you will serve as a senior enterprise leader and expert in Clinical Pharmacology, including Model-Informed Drug Development (MIDD) and Quantitative Medicine, solving high-risk development challenges and embedding advanced computational capabilities to accelerate the R&D pipeline. Operating on a senior strategic and scientific track, you will hold high accountability for shaping long-term scientific and development strategies and capital allocation for entire disease areas or global functions. Additionally, you will drive high-stakes corporate due diligence for licensing opportunities, lead complex global health authority negotiations, and act as a strategic mentor across the wider organisation.

  • High-Impact Strategic and Scientific Leadership: Formulate and evolve overarching Clinical Pharmacology and MIDD strategies for high-profile molecules or portfolio segments (e.g. Antibody-Drug-Conjugates) of Roche's focus disease areas (CVRM, Immunology, Neuroscience, Oncology and Ophthalmology), ensuring alignment with end-to-end development goals.

  • Pioneering Technical Innovation: Identify, develop, and integrate state-of-the-art computational methodologies into workflows, stimulating the broader scientific community to experiment and challenge development paradigms.

  • Complex Submissions & Regulatory Defence: Provide authoritative guidance on highly complex or unprecedented submission strategies (e.g., pediatric extrapolations, novel modalities) and serve as a primary counter-partner to health authorities and KOLs.

  • Strategic Business Development: Lead Clinical Pharmacology and modelling evaluations and actively contribute to the development of Clinical Development Plans for high-stakes due diligence, in-licensing, and out-licensing opportunities to assess the path to value as well as the technical viability and risks of external assets.

  • Roche Ecosystem Engagement: Actively participate in and drive pRED/Roche-wide initiatives to maximise organisational impact.

  • Culture Catalyst: Act as an inspirational role model who brings teams together, helping the Department prioritise work to create clarity, focus, and a sustainable, high-performance environment.

  • Strategic Mentorship: Actively coach and mentor Principal Scientists and Department members globally, serving as a dedicated sparring partner to systematically build deep quantitative and translational capabilities to proactively recognise and drive the integration of advanced quantitative approaches to development strategies and portfolio decision-making.

  • Global Influence & Collaboration: Demonstrate a proven ability to influence senior leadership, handle high-stakes conflicts with resilience, shape global organisational strategy, and effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

Who You Are

  • Education: You hold a PhD, Pharm.D., or MD with a specialised focus in Pharmacometrics, Clinical Pharmacology, or a closely related scientific discipline.

  • Experience: You bring 10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry in the area of Quantitative Clinical Pharmacology, backed by a documented track record of expert scientific contributions, successful regulatory approvals, and impactful matrix leadership. You have a strong understanding of the end-to-end development pathway from early research through late-stage development and regulatory submission. You are comfortable translating scientific insights into impactful development strategies.

  • Technical Skills: You have a strong foundation in Clinical Pharmacology principles, quantitative drug development and possess masterful, hands-on capabilities and understanding of multi-scale quantitative workflows and advanced modelling approaches applied across diverse therapeutic modalities.

  • Influence & Leadership: You demonstrate strong strategic thinking, embrace innovation, show ownership and a proven ability to influence senior leadership, handle high-stakes conflicts with resilience, and actively shape global organisational strategy.
