Leadership & operations: Manage a team of six plus contractors; oversee a significant creative/content budget and Shell’s British Cycling sponsorship; set strategy for agency support
Executive enablement: Coach senior leaders on communications and engagement strategies; advise on communications and cultural transformation
What you’ll bring
We’re looking for an experienced senior communications and stakeholder professional who combines strategic acuity with creativity and resilience, someone who thrives in complex environments and delivers at pace.
Extensive years of experience in senior communications roles—agency, in-house, or journalism—with significant experience managing complex reputational issues in multinational contexts
Proven ability to lead teams and manage budgets, mastery in stakeholder engagement and content creation
Strong relationships within communications and stakeholder networks; appetite to grow Shell’s strategic influence
Experience in social performance management preferred
Excellent English writing skills (speechwriting, media tactics, creative content)
Measurement-driven approach, including stakeholder analysis and market intelligence
Willingness to travel within the UK and attend occasional out-of-hours engagements
Strategic Diligence
Contextual understanding of macro trends, policy, and audience insight; ability to shape short- and long-term strategies
Reputation instincts—mitigating risk while positioning Shell as a trusted, credible voice
Stakeholder orchestration for integrated outcomes; building transformative partnerships
Outcome-based planning with agile course correction; integrated measurement and evaluation
Effective Communication
Mastery in communications planning and execution; coaching senior leaders and role-modelling cross-functional partnership
Outcome-based advocacy across complex environments; trust-based relationships with diverse viewpoints
Best-in-class content creation and storytelling; integrated channel strategy leveraging analytics and tech
